Issue
User encountered "API Error: 477 Out of quota" in AI Assistant, even though AI Enteprise quota usage was below the limit.
Cause
The root of the problem lies in JetBrains Central CLI intercepting the authentication process intended for the AI Enterprise integration. As a result, the Claude Code agent uses credits from the shared AI quota configured in the JetBrains Central Console, instead of the AI Enterprise-specific quota.
Solution
There are two options to resolve this issue:
Option 1: Disable JetBrains Central CLI Proxy
Disabling the proxy will ensure that requests are sent directly through the AI Enterprise configuration instead of being intercepted by the Central CLI.
-
Stop the proxy using the following command:
central proxy stop -
Check if a stale proxy daemon process is running:
ps aux | grep central -
If the process is not running, remove the stale proxy PID file:
rm ~/.jetbrains-central/proxy.pid
Note: This option disables the CLI proxy for all requests, not just those made in the AI Assistant chat.
Option 2: Log In to JetBrains Central CLI with IDE Services Credentials
This method ensures that the Central CLI is linked to the user's AI Enterprise subscription, allowing the Claude Agent to work seamlessly.
-
Log out of the current JetBrains Account in CLI by running:
central logout -
Log in to the CLI via IDE Services using the command:
central login --enterpriseUser will be prompted for the IDE Services URL. Enter it to complete the login process and link AI Enterprise seat.
Recommendation
We recommend using Option 2 as it maintains the functionality of the Central CLI while ensuring alignment with the AI Enterprise subscription.
If these steps resolve the issue, the user should see the Claude Agent functioning without exhausting organization shared AI quota.
