Question
How to collect ReSharper log file to help the ReSharper team troubleshoot the problem?
Answer
The option appears only for the release builds as EAP builds write logs in Verbose by default.
To collect the Verbose log:
-
select (Extensions) | ReSharper | Navigate | Go to Action;
-
type
logger /all -
select
Logger Configuration...; -
enable
Verbose Logginglevel. -
reproduce the issue;
-
Upload the log file to our JB server and share the Upload ID.
For ReSharper 2026.1 or newer, logs can be collected via (Extensions) | ReSharper | Help | Collect Logs.
For ReSharper 2025.3 and older, the location of the file is specified at the top of the Logger Configuration tool window; Note: if the out-of-process mode is enabled, get the whole
%Temp%\JetLogsfolder. -
Disable the logging - uncheck
Verbose Loggingoption.
If a trace log is needed, refer to the following article: How to collect ReSharper log file with a specific Trace scenario?
Another way to collect a Verbose log file
Launch Visual Studio with the following parameters:
/ReSharper.LogFile C:\log\resharper_log.txt /ReSharper.LogLevel Verbose
What folder are the log files in?
If logging was not enabled and the issue has already been reproduced, the log files can be found here: %Temp%\JetLogs.
