How to collect ReSharper performance snapshot with PerfView

Background/Situation

The ReSharper team may request a PerfView snapshot from you. PerfView collects a lot of diagnostic information from all processes in the system, which could be very useful given that we use a multi-process architecture.

Question

How to collect ReSharper snapshot with PerfView?

Answer

1. Download JetBrainsCollectPerfviewSnapshot_v5.zip file.
2. Run PerfView_until_S_pressed.cmd – collects data until the S key is pressed
3. After the snapshot recording has finished, the path to the PerfView.etl.zip file created in the output directory will be copied to your clipboard.
4. Upload the archive to the JetBrains server, copy the Upload ID, and share it with us.
