How a TeamCity license bundle consisting of 1 Server + 100 Build Agents can be used when moving to or setting up another TeamCity server with an existing license

The behavior depends on the license type you are using.
Scenario 1: Using Legacy License Keys
If you are using legacy (offline) license keys, the license can be reused on another TeamCity server.
How it works
- You can paste the Server License Key into another TeamCity server.
- The number of Build Agent licenses included in the bundle is automatically combined and becomes available on that server.
- The license must not be used simultaneously on multiple TeamCity servers.
- Ensure the license is removed or no longer used on the original server.
Version compatibility
Legacy licenses are valid only for TeamCity versions released before the license expiration date.
For example:
- A license that expired in June 2025
- Cannot be used with TeamCity 2025.07 or 2025.11
Please verify that your TeamCity version is compatible with your license before applying it
Scenario 2: Using Online License Activation
If you are using the online license activation option, the behavior is different.
Key points
- A Server License cannot be directly reused on another TeamCity server.
- However, the Server License can be converted into a number Agent License Pack via a backend operation.
- After conversion, the number of Agent License Pack can be applied to another TeamCity server.
How to request the conversion
To proceed with the conversion, please to contact support team with following information:
- The License ID
- Confirmation that the Server License is not currently used on any other server
Once confirmed, the license can be converted and applied accordingly from our backend.
