Collect a performance snapshot
- In Visual Studio, go to (Extensions) | ReSharper | Help | Profile Visual Studio.
- Next to Attachments, click + and select Performance Snapshot (Timeline). Profiling starts.
- Reproduce the slowdown.
- Click Stop profiling. The snapshot is added to Attachments.
- In Subject and Description, say which action is slow and how long it takes.
- Optional: click change account and select Browser authentication. The report is then not anonymous, and the ReSharper team can contact the reporter for more details.
- Click Submit.
To record again, click the delete icon next to the snapshot and repeat steps 2 to 4.
Collect a snapshot of a slow startup
If Visual Studio is slow at startup, collect the snapshot with standalone dotTrace and the Collect profiling data from start option, as described in ReSharper Profiling Instructions.
Upload the snapshot manually if Submit fails
If the upload fails after Submit, for example because the local network blocks it, upload the snapshot file manually:
- Under Attachments, right-click the snapshot.
- Select Open file location.
- Upload the file to JetBrains Uploads.
- Send the upload ID to the ReSharper support team.
