Problem
ReSharper features such as code analysis, code inspections, and navigation stop working in one solution. In other solutions, ReSharper works as expected.
Cause
A possible cause is corrupted ReSharper caches or a corrupted Visual Studio solution user options file (.suo) for this solution, which ReSharper cannot rebuild automatically.
Resolution
Clear the ReSharper caches for the solution:
- Open the solution in Visual Studio.
- Select ReSharper | Options from the main menu, or press Alt+R O.
- Go to Environment | General.
- Click Clear caches.
If the problem remains, delete the .suo file:
- Close Visual Studio.
- Delete the
.suofile in<solution folder>\.vs\<SolutionName>\v<NN>\, where<NN>is the Visual Studio version number:v17for Visual Studio 2022,v18for Visual Studio 2026. The.vsfolder is hidden. For Visual Studio 2013 and earlier, the file is<SolutionName>.suonext to the.slnfile. - Open the solution again.
Delete the caches manually
Clear caches cleans only the cache location that is currently selected. To delete the caches manually, close Visual Studio and delete the cache folder for the solution. The cache location is selected on the Environment | General page. The folder to delete depends on the location:
-
User local settings folder (default):
%LOCALAPPDATA%\JetBrains\Transient\ReSharperPlatformVs<NN>\v<build>\SolutionCaches\_<SolutionName>.<number> -
System TEMP folder: the ReSharper cache folder under
%TEMP% -
Solution folder:
_ReSharper.Cachesin the solution folder - Custom folder: the solution folder inside the custom location
