Problem
Pressing ⌘⇧F in IntelliJ IDEA or PhpStorm on macOS opens Finder instead of triggering the IDE's Find in Files action.
Cause
This happens because ⌘⇧F is assigned to the macOS Spotlight service, which takes precedence over the IDE's keyboard shortcut.
Resolution
To prevent the macOS shortcut from overriding the IDE shortcut:
- Open System Settings | Keyboard | Keyboard Shortcuts….
- Select Services from the left-hand pane.
- Expand Searching, and locate the Spotlight service and either disable its ⌘⇧F shortcut or assign it a different key combination.
- Return to IntelliJ IDEA or PhpStorm and press ⌘⇧F again. It should now invoke Find in Files within the IDE.
Refer to managing shortcuts documentation if further customization is needed.
