Can data sharing be enabled per project?

Situation

Sometimes users work on both open-source and commercial projects simultaneously. While they might not mind sharing their open-source projects, they sometimes can't share commercial projects.

In the current implementation of the Data Sharing feature, starting with 2025.3.1 they will have to keep the option off completely because of the lack of per-project control.

Question

Can data sharing be enabled per project?

Answer

Not at the moment, but it is a great idea that is currently being discussed internally.

Having a project scope setting that could overwrite the global setting would make it easier for users to start sharing their data safely if they want it.

If/when it is made into a feature, most likely there will be an announcement about it at https://blog.jetbrains.com, or a corresponding feature request on YouTrack.
