TeamCity build agents do not detect .NET CLI on Ubuntu 22.04-24.04

Symptoms

The agent doesn't report the corresponding parameters: DotNetCli_Path and DotNetCli. This causes the agent to report the .NET build runner as incompatible.

Cause

Canonical changed the default .NET CLI installation path in their recent Ubuntu distributions; TeamCity Agents attempt to check the old paths but find nothing. See Update Plugin for .NET Runtime Detection on Ubuntu 22.04/24.04.

Resolution

Any of the following approaches can solve the problem:

• Update to TeamCity 2024.12.3 or newer, where the detection issue should be resolved (Update Plugin for .NET Runtime Detection on Ubuntu 22.04/24.04)
• Manually set the DotNetCli_Path parameter in the buildAgent.properties and point it to the correct path
• Manually install .NET CLI into the "old" path: /usr/share/dotnet
