Failed to perform checkout on agent: svn: E175002: connection refused by the server

Symptoms

The build and SVN operations work as expected on Windows but fail on macOS with the following error:

svn: E175002: connection refused by the server

Manual svn update commands work fine on the same macOS machine that hosts the build agent.

Cause

The connection to the SVN server fails due to insufficient memory, as indicated by the following error in the teamcity-agent.log:

java.net.ConnectException: Cannot allocate memory (connect failed)

Resolution

For 64-bit agents, configure TEAMCITY_AGENT_MEM_OPTS to include -Xmx512m or higher value.
