Required tool was not installed successfully after upgrading TeamCity

Symptoms

After the TeamCity upgrade to version 2024.07 or later, the following error may be encountered while the build is in the queue:

The required tool (JetBrains.dotCover.CommandLineTools.bundled) was not installed successfully

Despite installing the tool as prompted, the issue persists.

Cause

• JetBrains.dotCover.CommandLineTools.bundled refers to the 2023.3.3 version of dotCover, and the ReSharper 2023.1.1.
• There may be some connectivity issues during the download of the tool after the upgrade.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, manually install dotCover 2023.3.3 and ReSharper 2023.1.1.

Additional information

The changes in tool handling that were introduced with TeamCity 2024.07 for security reasons will be added to the upgrade notes and documentation.
