Question
Can the Download all (.zip) artifact button be disabled per project or build configuration, particularly when using external S3-compatible artifact storage?
Answer
TeamCity does not currently provide a per-project or per-build-configuration option to disable the Download all (.zip) action.
The following workarounds are available.
Hide the button server-wide
You can hide the Download all (.zip) button across the entire TeamCity UI using the internal property:
teamcity.ui.showDownloadAllArtifactsLink=false
This property applies server-wide.
It only hides the UI element. The archive download endpoint remains accessible directly:
/repository/downloadAll/<buildTypeId>/<buildSpecification>
Block archive downloads at the reverse proxy
Archive downloads can be served through:
/repository/downloadAll/<buildTypeId>/<buildSpecification>
and:
/downloadArtifacts.html?buildId=<buildId>
If archive downloads must be prevented entirely, these endpoints can be blocked at the reverse proxy.
This should not interfere with TeamCity agents or artifact dependency downloads, which use the regular artifact download mechanism. Test the proxy configuration before applying it in production.
External artifact storage behavior
For individual artifacts stored in external S3-compatible storage, TeamCity can redirect the client to the external storage.
For Download all (.zip), TeamCity retrieves the artifacts from external storage, creates the ZIP archive on the fly, and streams it to the client through the TeamCity server.
This can make archive downloads significantly more resource-intensive than individual artifact downloads, particularly for large artifact sets.
