Question
How can the build queue be paused before starting the TeamCity server?
This can be useful in scenarios such as copying the production server to test an upgrade while preventing any builds from running.
Answer
-
Create a file in the TeamCity server data directory called
<data_dir>/config/plugin.queue-pauser.xml. -
Set content to
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <settings> <param name="queue-enabled" value="false" /> <param name="state-changed-reason" value="Comment" /> <param name="state-changed-actor" value="USER" /> <param name="state-changed-by" value="1" /> <param name="state-changed-on" value="1774952206000" /> </settings>-
queue-enabled- set tofalseto pause the queue. Set totrueor remove the file to resume the queue. -
state-changed-reason- an arbitrary comment to show in the UI when the queue is paused. -
state-changed-actor- set to USER (literal string). -
state-changed-by- set to your user's numerical ID. You can see it in the URL of your user profile page in TeamCity, e.g.,<TeamCity Server URL>/admin/editUser.html?userId=1. -
state-changed-on- Current Unix time with milliseconds.
-
-
Start the server. It will start with the queue paused.
