Symptoms
When starting the build, the agent-side checkout from SVN fails with:
Failed to perform checkout on agent: Error during update from
<SVN URL>
to <checkout directory>: svn: E175002: No space left on device
The drive where the checkout directory is located has plenty of space.
Cause
During the checkout, SVN creates spool files in the directory denoted by java.io.tmpdir parameter, which by default points to /tmp on UNIX systems and %TEMP% on Windows.
This error could mean that there is not enough space available for the java.io.tmpdir directory.
Resolution
Increasing the space available for the java.io.tmpdir directory should resolve it.
As an alternative, it is possible to change the value of the java.io.tmpdir parameter used by the agent. The java.io.tmpdir parameter can be customized during the JVM start as a JVM option -Djava.io.tmpdir=/path/to/my/tempdir. The TEAMCITY_AGENT_OPTS system environment variable can be used to set additional JVM options for the build agent. These options are applied during the agent startup, so the build agent restart is required.
