Symptoms
After the update of the TeamCity server installed on the Windows machine, the list of installed applications still shows the old version installed.
Cause
As mentioned in the documentation, there is a limitation: the Windows uninstaller is not updated during the upgrade, so after updates, the old TeamCity version will still be noted in the installed programs list. The listing of an old version is expected.
Resolution
You can find the instructions on how to update the TeamCity version in the Windows Registry on the Administration > Updates page:
Auto update will not be able to update the version of the TeamCity server in Windows registry.
To set the TeamCity version in registry to the current TeamCity version, run the following command:
runas /user:Administrator "powershell -File <TeamCity Installation Directory>\bin\update-registry-version.ps1"
Additional information
This command only updates the TeamCity version in the Windows Registry and does not update the TeamCity Server Windows uninstaller, as described in Uninstall.exe is not updated.
