Collecting Java debugger logs

To get the raw TRACE-level logs from Java debugger, perform the following steps:

1. Go to Help | Edit Custom VM Options

2. Add -Didea.debugger.trace=ALL as a new line to the file that opens:

   

3. Reproduce the problem with the debugger

4. Go to Help | Collect Logs and Diagnostic Data to generate an archive with IDE logs

5. Provide the archive in the support ticket as requested, or upload it securely to our server and share the Upload ID with the support engineer.

In case there is a lot of output, it may be handy to start the IDE from the command line with console output redirected to a file:

• Windows: idea.bat > output.txt
• Linux: idea.sh > output.txt
• macOS: /Applications/IntelliJ\ IDEA.app/Contents/MacOS/idea > output.txt
