Question
I have an issue caused by JBR. In JetBrains tracker, it's marked as "fixed". How can I apply the fix?
Answer
Some of the known issues in our products are caused by JBR (JetBrains Runtime). The releases of JBR are more frequent than IDE releases, therefore, it's possible to apply the fix before the fixed IDE version is released. If you know your issue number (this is usually sent by support), search for this number on the JBR release download page.
If the issue is listed as "fixed", that means JBR update will solve it for you. To apply the new JBR:
- Go to https://github.com/JetBrains/JetBrainsRuntime/releases and download the most recent version applicable for your system (different versions are available for Mac, Linux, Windows and x64/arm).
- Install the downloaded package on your system
- Press
Shift+Shiftand type "Choose Boot Java Runtime for the IDE" to execute the action - In the resulting window, expand the dropdown menu to select the newly installed JBR
- Click OK and restart the IDE
Important note:
After these steps, your IDE Runtime will be set to "custom". Next time when you update IDE, the custom Runtime won't be updated. Remember to go to "Choose Boot Java Runtime for the IDE" and click "Use Default runtime" button to stop using custom Runtime, so that your installation will be up-to-date.
