How to enable national keyboard or DVORAK support in IntelliJ IDE

Question

When I use national (German, Polish, French, etc..) keyboard layout, or DVORAK layout, IDE does not process keys in shortcuts correctly

Answer

macOS/Linux

• Go to the main menu "Help | Edit Custom VM Options..."
• add the line -Dcom.sun.awt.use.national.layouts=true to enable the support or -Dcom.sun.awt.use.national.layouts=false to disable it
• Restart the IDE

Windows

• Go to the main menu "Help | Edit Custom VM Options..."
• add the line -Dcom.sun.awt.useLatinNonAlphaNumKeycodes=true to enable the support or -Dcom.sun.awt.useLatinNonAlphaNumKeycodes=false to disable it
• Restart the IDE
