Problem
Copying a file in the Project tool window or from an editor tab and pasting it into another application inserts only the file name, for example CLOB_TO_TABLE.sql, instead of the full path such as C:\LocalGit\project\functions\CLOB_TO_TABLE.sql.
Cause
The regular Copy command (Ctrl+C) puts only the file name on the clipboard as text. The full path is available through the separate Copy Path/Reference action.
Resolution
Use one of these options:
- Right-click the file in the Project tool window or its editor tab and select Copy Path/Reference... | Absolute Path.
- Select the file and press the Absolute Path shortcut. The Copy Path/Reference menu shows it next to the item. In the default Windows keymap, it is Ctrl+Shift+C.
If no shortcut is shown, or it does not work in the active keymap, assign one:
- Open Settings | Keymap.
- Type
Absolute Pathin the search field. - Right-click the action and select Add Keyboard Shortcut.
The Copy Path/Reference menu also offers other formats: File Name, Path from Content Root, Path From Repository Root, and GitHub Repository URL.
