Question
Cursor is always in the new line in Terminal, this is not the same behavior as the default Shell.
Answer
https://blog.jetbrains.com/idea/2024/02/the-new-terminal-beta-is-now-in-jetbrains-ides/ New Terminal brings command blocks, so the cursor in the new line is an intended behavior.
For IDEs whose version are older than 2024.2, there is no option to change the prompt style. If you want to make single-line prompt, you need to disable New Terminal via Settings | Tools | Terminal
For IDEs whose version is or newer than 2024.2: Change the Prompt style to the one other than "IDE double-line prompt" - Settings | Tools | Terminal. The Prompt style option is shown only when Terminal engine is set to Experimental 2024 (deprecated)
