How to fix JCEF not supported error

Problem

• the JCEF is not supported error is displayed in the IDE interface, for example, in the Amazon Q Chat toolwindow:

• the following warning is reported in the idea.log(to open the log file, navigate to Help | Show Log in Explorer or Show Log in Finder):

WARN - #c.i.u.j.JBCefApp - JCefAppConfig.class is not from a JBR module

Resolution

Changing the IDE boot runtime to the default one should help in this case. Follow the instructions in this article in our documentation to do it. Please note that once the IDE runtime is changed, its version should also change in the Help | About / <IDE_name> | About <IDE_name> window:

If the problem persists and the runtime is not changed in this window, please check if the IDEA_JDK environment variable is set up in your OS.
