Problem
There is an exception is being thrown Connection refused: getsockopt while activating JetBrains IDE (IntelliJ IDEA, Rider, ReSharper and others) using the JetBrains account option in the IDE window or ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED is shown in a browser itself
Solution
Check the following possible solutions:
- does the same problem exist when you use a different browser?
- try clearing the cookies and cache in your browser, then try again;
- Add FIrewall rule for *jetbrains.com domain
- Check local
hostsfile. It should not contain any records with jetbrains.com - Open https://account.jetbrains.com/ in the browser on the affected machine. If works:
- Allow the IDE to use the same connection parameters. It tries to reach the endpoint via 443 port
- Configure a proxy for IDE (for ReSharper please take a look at the Web Proxy Settings web page)
If a network connection still cannot be established, activate IntelliJ IDEA using an offline activation code or contact JetBrains support team for help.
