Problem
Plugins are not visible in the Marketplace tab of the plugin settings in IntelliJ IDEA 2025.1.1.1 (Community Edition).
Cause
The idea.properties file may contain the following entry:
idea.plugins.host=https://no.host
This configuration prevents the IDE from correctly accessing the JetBrains plugins repository, as it redirects requests to the incorrect URL https://no.host.
Solution 1
-
Open IntelliJ IDEA.
-
Navigate to Help | Edit Custom Properties.
-
Locate the following line in the
idea.propertiesfile:idea.plugins.host=https://no.host -
Comment out or delete this line.
Example:
# idea.plugins.host=https://no.host -
Restart IntelliJ IDEA to apply the changes.
-
Open the plugins Marketplace tab to verify that plugins are properly listed.
⚠️ Other solutions
- Go to Settings | Plugins | ⚙ | Manage Plugin Repositories and make sure there is no
idea.plugin.hostsproperty there (documentation) -
Enable debug logging for the
com.intellij.ide.plugins.marketplacecategory and inspect logs for proxy/network failures: Help | Show Log in... If needed, adjust proxy settings in the IDE. - As a fallback, plugins can be downloaded manually from the Marketplace and installed from disk.
