Question
My IDE window flickers, how can I solve that?
Answer
Try one of the following workarounds:
- If you have pCloud running, disable pCloud file status icons or exit pCloud. There is a separate ticket IDEA windows flashing bright in irregular intervals if pCloud status icons are enabled in our tracker for this issue, kindly upvote it if the suggested workaround helps.
- Disable the hardware acceleration if it's ON:
- Go to OS
Settings | System | Display. - Click Graphics settings at the bottom.
- On the opened settings page, set the corresponding switch position to OFF.
- If you have several graphic cards available in your system, try forcing the OS to use only one of them (this can usually be done in the graphics provider control panel or in the Windows Device manager).
- Turn on the power save mode in the IDE via the main menu
File > Power Save Mode. - Disable MPO (multiplane overlay support):
- Copy the following snippet to a text file and save it as .reg
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Dwm]
"OverlayTestMode"=dword:00000005
- Run the saved file to change the registry.
Alternatively, open the registry editor, find the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Dwmkey and add theOverlayTestModeDWORD value 00000005 under it.
If none of the above helps, please contact JetBrains Support - Help | Submit bug report or create a new ticket in YouTrack, and provide complete IDE logs captured via IDE Help | Collect logs and diagnostic data, along with the screen recording demonstrating the flickering.
