Background/Situation
JetBrains IDEs use the Grazie plugin for natural language spell and grammar checking. By default, language packs are downloaded automatically when a language is added in Settings. In offline environments where the IDE cannot reach resources.jetbrains.com, the language pack must be installed manually.
Question
How to install a Grazie spell-check language pack (for example, French) in an IDE that has no internet access?
Answer
-
On a machine with internet access, download the language pack
.jarfrom the JetBrains resources server. The URL has the form:https://resources.jetbrains.com/grazie/model/language-tool/<version>/<lang>-<version>.jarFor example, French version 6.7.20:
fr-6.7.20.jar. -
Locate the IDE configuration directory.
-
Inside the configuration directory, create the subfolder
grazie/<lang>-LT<version>/. Create the parent folders if they do not exist. For French 6.7.20, the path is:<config-directory>/grazie/fr-LT6.7.20/ -
Copy the downloaded
.jarfile into that folder. -
Restart the IDE.
-
Open Settings (Ctrl+Alt+S on Windows/Linux, ⌘, on macOS) | Editor | Natural Languages, click Add, and select the installed language (for example, Français).
The language is now available for spell and grammar checking.
