Problem
After pressing F2 on a shelf in the Shelf tool window and typing a new name, pressing Enter does not confirm the rename. Symptoms:
- The edit box remains active.
- When focus leaves the edit box, the name reverts to the original.
- The first file in the shelf may open in the editor.
Cause
A keyboard shortcut bound to Enter is intercepting the keystroke before the inline editor receives it. A common culprit is the Jump to Source action (or actions inheriting from it), which can include Enter as a shortcut in customized keymaps.
Resolution
Remove the Enter binding from the conflicting action:
- Open Settings (Ctrl+Alt+S on Windows/Linux, ⌘, on macOS).
- Navigate to Keymap.
- In the search field, type
Jump to Source. - Right-click the action and select Remove Enter to remove the conflicting shortcut. Repeat for any actions that inherit from it.
- Click Apply and OK.
- Return to the Shelf tool window, press F2 on a shelf, type the new name, and press Enter. The rename now applies.
If the conflict persists, search Keymap for other actions bound to Enter and remove or rebind them.
If Enter is needed for specific contexts, bind it to those concrete actions instead of the parent Jump to Source multi-action.
