Problem
After setting up a workspace with multiple modules containing both Git and SVN repositories, the "Commit" interface/tool window becomes unavailable. The commit operation can only be accessed via the Version Control icon.
Cause
The SVN integration does not support the non-modal commit interface in JetBrains IDEs. When an SVN module is added to a project, the commit interface switches to the modal commit interface. Consequently, the View | Tool Windows | Commit option becomes disabled.
Resolution
To perform commits under these conditions:
- Use the Version Control tool window:
- Open the Version Control window and navigate to the "Local Changes" tab to manage and commit changes.
- Use the
Ctrl/Cmd+Kkeyboard shortcut:- Press the shortcut to open the modal commit dialog and proceed with your commits.
This behavior is expected when both SVN and Git projects coexist within a single workspace or project.
