Remote git operations in the IDE override credential helper option

Problem

When executing remote git operations from the IDE UI (e.g. pull, push, fetch etc.), the command being run is overriding the configured credential helper:

$ git -c credential.helper= -c core.quotepath=false -c log.showSignature=false push --progress --porcelain origin refs/heads/main:main
Authentication request was cancelled
Authentication request was cancelled
remote: No anonymous write access.

Cause

By default IDE uses its own mechanisms for storing git credentials and do not use the default-configured credential helper.

Resolution

To use the credential helper to store the git credentials, enable the option Use credential helper in Settings (⌘ + , or Ctrl + Alt + S) > Version Control > Git?
