Problem
Creating a pull request (PR) in JetBrains Rider via the GitHub integration defaults the base repository to the forked repository, without providing an option to select the original base repository.
Cause
The GitHub PR creation dialog defaults to the repository associated with the current working directory, which is the user's forked repository.
Resolution
To select a different base repository when creating a pull request:
- Open the PR creation dialog in Rider.
- Click the three dots (⋮) icon in the dialog.
- Select the Change Repository or Account... option.
- Choose the desired repository under Base repository to set the correct target for the pull request.
- Adjust the source repository and branch under the respective fields to reflect the correct forked repository and branch with your changes.
Now, you will be able to specify any base and head repositories correctly when creating pull requests.
