Question
Is it possible to exclude branches from the Git log view in IntelliJ IDEA to make branch-specific commit filtering more manageable?
Answer
Currently, IntelliJ IDEA allows excluding branches from the Git log view using the Branch filter:
- Open the Git Log view.
- In the Branch filter dropdown, select Select....
- In the selection window, you can use the syntax
-<branch_name>to exclude specific branches.
For instance, entering -feature/login in the branch selection will hide commits from the feature/login branch.
While this operation is possible through existing text-based filtering, there is ongoing feedback for a more user-intuitive interface option, such as enabling right-click functionality to hide branches directly.
