Problem
When utilizing the Annotate with Git Blame feature in IntelliJ IDEA and the author's name includes multiple components while ending with a common designation, only the last few characters of the name are visible in the annotation, making it challenging to identify the author directly.
Example:
- Author Name:
John [Review Platform Dev] - Displayed in Annotation:
Dev]
Resolution
To resolve this issue, configure the Full Name option for the Git blame annotations within IntelliJ IDEA:
- Navigate to View | Names in the Git Blame context menu or settings.
- Enable the Full Name display mode.
This adjustment ensures the complete author name is visible in the annotation.
By following these steps, the full author details are consistently displayed in the Git blame annotations.
