Git operations perform slowly

Problem

All git operations (e.g. update project, commit etc.) in the IDE perform very slowly. It takes half an hour to update the project.

Cause

• Antivirus is blocking access to project files – IDE is not able to access the files in a timely manner.
• Microsoft PC Manager (mspcManager) can cause the branch checkout process to perform slowly.

Resolution

• Disable antivirus or add exceptions for the IDE executables: https://intellij-support.jetbrains.com/hc/en-us/articles/360006298560-Antivirus-Impact-on-Build-Speed.
• Turn off/uninstall the Microsoft PC Manager.
