Problem
The project or files are deleted but not saved via VCS or the disk that project is on got corrupted.
Cause
Various causes: deleted by accident, disk corruption etc
Resolution
Local History can be used to restore your data.
In case the whole project is deleted
- Recreate a new (empty) project in the exact location of the previous one.
- Open the project via IDE
- Right-click on the root folder and select Local history.
- Restore it using the Local History interface.
Example: In case of disk corruption
(this is an experimental solution and might not work) (this will only work if the idea is on another disk)
- Use a USB flash
- Mount it under the label of the corrupted disk
- Re-create the project in the old location (you may try with root too)
- Open the project via IDE
- Right-click on the root folder and select Local history.
- Restore it using the Local History interface.
