Clone fails with error: active 'post-checkout' hook found during 'git clone'

Problem

Clone operation invoked from the IDE fails with the following error message:

active 'post-checkout' hook found during 'git clone': <path_to_the_hook>
For security reasons this is disallowed by default. If this is intentional and the hook should actually be run, please run the command again with 'GIT_CLONE_PROTECTION_ACTIVE=false'

Cause

When there is a post-checkout hook configured - the clone fails automatically as a security precaution.

Resolution

To run the hook anyway, set the following environment variable GIT_CLONE_PROTECTION_ACTIVE=false in your OS.

After that restart the IDE and try to clone the project again. If using Toolbox App to run the IDE - restart the Toolbox App first as it caches the environment variables.

Note: Make sure to use the latest git version, to avoid known issues such as: https://github.com/git-lfs/git-lfs/issues/5749.
