Problem
Users are encountering an issue where ongoing Git operations, such as a push, might be interrupted if the IDE is closed before the process completes.
Cause
This occurs when the IDE closes without awaiting the completion of active operations or without prompting the user for confirmation to terminate these operations.
Resolution
IDEs include a setting that determines how the IDE handles running processes during closure. Users can configure this setting to prompt them before closing, or to disconnect or terminate running operations automatically. To access and modify this setting:
- Open Settings (
⌘ + ,orCtrl + Alt + S). - Navigate to Appearance & Behavior > System Settings.
- Locate the option Confirm before exiting the IDE.
- Choose the desired behavior: Ask, Terminate process, or Disconnect.
- Apply and save the changes.
This ensures that users can manage how the IDE handles processes being executed during closure, thereby preventing interruptions like a failed Git push operation.
