Changelist restoration after system freeze in PhpStorm

Problem

After a system freeze and forced reboot of the IDE, there are some changes in the changelists configuration within the project workspace. Deleted changelists reappeared, the default changelist was set as active, and the active changelist prior to the crash disappeared. Although file changes were intact, they were not appearing within the Commit tab as part of any changelist.

Cause

The issue appears to be related to the IDE not persisting changelists and their content accurately due to the abrupt shutdown of the system. This might override or reset the changelists' data.

Resolution

To work around the issue, please try the following:

1. Create a new changelist and go through the changed files and start adding changed lines to this changelist
2. Start adding changed lines to the default changelist
3. At some point all the changes from all the files appeared back in the default changelist

This workaround restored functionality. It is recommended to ensure that the changelists are regularly persisted, and the system is shut down gracefully to avoid such issues.
