Problem
Seeing changed files twice within the Git commit tab in the IDE.
Cause
This issue often arises due to duplicate or incorrect configuration of directory mappings in the version control settings. Also, it could be that the project has multiple git roots (.git folders) which is not intentional.
Resolution
- Open Settings (
⌘ + ,on macOS orCtrl + Alt + Son Windows/Linux) and navigate to Version Control > Directory Mappings. - Review the listed Git roots and ensure there are no unnecessary or duplicate entries.
- Remove or modify incorrect mappings as needed to accurately represent the intended configuration.
- You can also alter how changes are grouped in the Commit dialog by toggling the repository grouping option (by directory, folder or repository), providing a clearer view of the affected files.
