Problem
When attempting to amend a Git commit in the IDE, the changes from the previous commit should show up in the Commit tool window. However, for projects with multiple roots (multiple git repositories in Settings (⌘ + , or Ctrl + Alt + S) > Version Control > Directory Mappings), the previous changes are not shown.
Resolution
To resolve this issue:
- Check whether your project contains multiple Git roots.
- Open the Settings window (
⌘ + ,on Mac orCtrl + Alt + Son Windows/Linux). - Navigate to Version Control > Directory Mappings to view and manage the configured Git roots.
- Open the Settings window (
- If you identify unnecessary Git roots among the listed repositories, update the configuration by removing the unwanted entries.
