Problem
Following an upgrade of the IDE, an error message "No valid Perforce connections found" appears when setting up the connection parameters in Settings (⌘ + , or Ctrl + Alt + S) > Version Control > Perforce. It seems that the Perforce connection temporarily works properly after clearing the caches. However, after restarting the IDE it fails with the same error again.
Cause
In some cases, when the project has a complex setup utilizing both Git and Perforce for the same project, the automatically detected directory mappings can be incorrect. This kind of scenario is not straightforward and needs a bit of extra manual configuration.
Resolution
- Review Directory Mappings: Verify the directory mappings specified in IDE settings under Settings > Version Control > Directory Mappings
- Reconfigure Mappings: Adjust the mappings as follows:
- Use explicit absolute paths instead of relative paths such as
<Project>. - Remove unnecessary entries, such as Git-related mappings, if not used in Rider.
- Use explicit absolute paths instead of relative paths such as
- Update Configuration File: Confirm that the
p4config.txtfile and its settings are correctly specified and synchronized with the preferred mappings.
