Problem
The VCS menu item is missing from the main menu in the IDE, even though documentation might refer to it for actions like cloning a repository or other version control operations.
Cause
When a project is already under version control (e.g., Git, SVN), IDE replaces the generic VCS menu item with a menu specific to the active version control system. For example, if Git is enabled for the project, the menu item will be named Git.
Resolution
- If the project is already managed by a specific version control system like Git, look for its corresponding menu item (e.g., Git) in the main menu instead of the VCS menu. Most version control actions will be available there.
- Use the Search Everywhere feature to find any action, including VCS commands. Press
Shifttwice to open the Search Everywhere dialog and type the name of the action to perform (e.g.,Clone,Commit,Push,Get from Version Control..).
