Checkboxes not shown in local changes tab in Git tool window

Problem

A user has changed the commit interface to the “modal” behavior. However, the checkboxes in front of changed files in the changelist are missing.

Cause

This happens when both Use non-modal commit interface and Enable Commit tool window option are disabled.

Resolution

• Use non-modal commit instead -> disable the option Settings (⌘ + , or Ctrl + Alt + S) | Advanced Settings | Version Control | Use modal commit interface for Git and Mercurial

• Use modal commit by pressing Ctrl + K keyboard shortcut from the Local Changes tab, or click on the Commit.. button the side toolbar:
