Problem
A user has successfully connected to IDE Services License Vault whilst the License Vault has valid ReSharper/dotUltimate licenses within it. However, ReSharper in Visual Studio suddenly shows "Evaluation of ... (i.e. ReSharper C++, dotTrace, dotCover, etc.) is not started" and those features cannot be used despite not making any changes in the License Information window.
Cause
In License Information, the product checkbox for ReSharper C++, dotTrace, dotCover, etc. was unchecked, so ReSharper did not apply the available license for that product. This could be related to the known issue as described here in ReSharper 2026.2. The hotfix has been released in ReSharper 2026.2.3.1. If the issue persists/the update is not possible at the moment (e.g. due to company policy, SOP), please review the workarounds below.
Resolution/Workaround
- In Visual Studio, open Extensions → ReSharper → Options → Products & Features, ensure checkboxes are checked for all products you want to use.
- Then, open Extensions → ReSharper → Help → License Information.
- Confirm that Use License Server points to your IDE Services server address.
- Click the Setting icon on the right-hand side (as shown in the screenshot above).
- In the same License Information window, ensure the checkbox for ReSharper C++ or other features that you want to use are checked and click Apply.
- If needed, click Retry authentication and complete authentication in your browser.
- If the issue persists after authentication and verifying the checkbox:
- Reproduce the issue.
- Send the ReSharper to the support team for further investigation.
- To collect logs:
