Question
Why is there no View history link for build configuration templates, like the one available for build configurations?
Answer
The View history link in TeamCity is linked to the settings audit history. This audit history tracks changes made to project and build configuration settings, including who made the change and what was changed.
For build configuration templates, the template itself is not a separate selectable item in the Audit filter like a normal build configuration does.
To view template changes:
- Go to Administration → Audit.
- Select the project where the template was created.
- The template-related audit entries should appear under that project.
To make the results easier to find, change the Show filter to: Build configuration template actions
This will show template-related events, such as when a template was created or when its settings were edited.
If no entries appear, it may mean that there are no audit records available for those changes, or that older audit records were removed by the server cleanup process. By default, audit entries are removed after 1 year.
