Artifacts upload on a running build fails with the "Content-MD5 you specified did not match what we received" error

Symptoms

1. The publishArtifacts service message is used to upload artifacts while the build is still running.
2. The upload for some files sometimes fails with the following error: Failed to publish artifacts: Failed to upload artifact <File Path>: Got response code 400. Response: 'The Content-MD5 you specified did not match what we received. (Service: null; Status Code: 400; Error Code: BadDigest; Request ID: ...; Proxy: ...)'

Cause

This error means that the artifact was changed during the upload process. TeamCity checks the consistency of uploaded files and treats any inconsistencies as errors.

Resolution

Confirm if some process modifies the affected files while they are being uploaded.

To resolve this issue, either ensure no other processes modify these files or do not publish them using the publishArtifacts service message. The files excluded from publishing with the service message can be published by specifying them in the build configuration settings. They will be published as usual, after the finish of the last build step.
