How to disable the logical structure view feature (IDEA 2024.3+)?

Problem

Working on a vast Java project, but it takes up to 5 seconds to make the outline shown in the Structure view when opening a new Java class file.

Cause

The problem is related to the Logical Structure feature, which JetBrains developed in the last release. Even if your project doesn't have the files that the feature supports, IDEA still needs time to calculate that each time you open a file, and it's not perfectly optimized for big projects.

Resolution

You can disable the following option in the IDE registry: logical.structure.enabled

To get to the registry:

• Open Search Everywhere (Shift-Shift), type "registry" in the search bar
• Select the first hit from the top
• In the dialog that opens, start typing the name of the property to find it quickly
