IntelliJ IDEA warning "JDK can cause slow builds. The JDK and system architectures do not match."

Problem

The warning shows after upgrading to 2024.2.

JDK can cause slow builds

The JDK and system architectures do not match. Builds can be much slower as a consequence.

Cause

This warning appears in scenarios where an incorrect chip-based JDK is used.

For example, the user's machine has an Apple silicon chip (Mac device), but Intel JDK is downloaded.

Solution

If you are using ARM Chips like Apple silicon, please download the JDK with a tag "aarch64". Navigate to File | Project Structure | Project Settings | Project | SDK | Download, and choose those with "aarch64" tag.
