Problem
Running any Maven goal (such as clean, compile, or package) from the Maven tool window in IntelliJ IDEA produces no log output in the console. Only the command line that launches the Maven process is shown, for example:
mvnw.cmd -Didea.version=2026.1.2 -Dmaven.ext.class.path=...\maven-event-listener.jar -Djansi.passthrough=true -Dstyle.color=always -DskipTests=true -Dmaven.repo.local=C:\Users\...\.m2\repository clean package -f pom.xml
The build completes successfully, but no progress messages, plugin output, or errors are visible. Running the same command directly in a terminal (mvn clean) shows output as expected.
Cause
Starting with IntelliJ IDEA 2025.2, the Maven integration launches goals through an intermediate batch script (mvn-idea-exec.bat) created in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Temp\. On Windows hosts where Group Policy or other system settings restrict batch script execution or output redirection, the script runs but its stdout never reaches the IDE console.
Related issue: IDEA-376959.
Resolution
Disable the script-based Maven launcher in the IDE registry:
- Open the IDE registry.
- Locate the
maven.use.scriptskey. - Clear its checkbox to disable it.
- Run a Maven goal again from the Maven tool window. Log output appears in the console.
