"Switcher" (Ctrl + Tab) shortcut stopped working in IntelliJ IDEA

Problem

The Ctrl + Tab shortcut stopped working in IntelliJ IDEA. Nothing happens when the shortcut was hit

Solution

It can be a bug or a problem specific to an environment. Check common reasons below

  1. To make sure it's not an OS level conflict, check if the Switcher option appears when you hit it in Keymap | Find Shortcut :

If it's not shown, check if any other software in your OS is using this shortcut

  1. The Support screen reader option under Settings | Appearance & Behavior | Appearance may interfere with the Switcher feature. See if disabling it helps:

  1. There is a known bug IDE Settings Sync bundled plugin causes CTRL+TAB to stop working on MacOS with Settings Sync bundled plugin. Check if disabling it and restarting the IntelliJ IDEA helps:
