Workaround
This plugin is bundled, thus you can remove it manually at present by removing the bundled one from the IDE's installation folder.
1. locate your IDE's installation folder and the bundled plugin's folder
Windows:
C:\Program Files\JetBrains\IntelliJ IDEA 2023.3\plugins
Mac:
By default is on this path, if not, please right-click the IDE icon on the dock, choose Options | Show in Finder, then right-click in the finder and choose Show Package Contents, then navigate to "Contents/plugins"
/Applications/IntelliJ IDEA.app/Contents/plugins
Linux:
Change the directory to plugins under the IDE installation path.
For IDEs installed by JetBrains Toolbox 2.0, the location is:
Windows: %LocalAppData%\Programs (FOLDERID_UserProgramFiles) macOS: ~/Applications Linux: ~/.local/share/JetBrains/Toolbox/apps
-
Quit the IDE, then delete folder ml-llm(be careful not rename/move/delete other folders).
-
If you ever updated this plugin, please start the IDE again, in the Settings/Preferences | Plugins | "Installed" Tab, input
AI Assistant, then disable it, finally restart the IDE.
Now the plugin should be completely removed.
Consequences:
- macOS signature becomes broken (one day, Gatekeeper might refuse to start the app).
- Incremental IDE updates will fail in the future.
Limitations: Must have written permissions for the IDE installation folder. Does not support the IDE installed via the Snap package because it's a read-only file system.
