Cannot Open Files in IntelliJ IDEA Code Editor: Code Window Shows No Contents with Android Plugin Enabled

Problem

When using the Android plugin in IntelliJ IDEA, the code editor does not show the content of any file from the project tree when clicked. Instead, an empty code window appears.

The name of the selected file appears in the header tab, but the code window remains blank. However, when the Android plugin is disabled, the contents of the selected file appear in the code editor as normal.

Cause

Analyse the log file and locate the following error: #c.i.i.p.PluginManager - Illegal char <:> at index 14: D:\AndroidSdkD:\AndroidSdk java.nio.file.InvalidPathException: Illegal char <:> at index 14: D:\AndroidSdkD:\AndroidSdk

Resolution

Correct ANDROID_HOME environment variable to the path of AndroidSDK of yours like: “D:\AndroidSdk” (The value may differ with your environment)
